East Central Indiana high school softball scores, top performers from April 28-May 3

It was another electric week for high school softball across East Central Indiana. Here are the scores and top performers for each high school softball team in the Muncie area for the week of April 28-May 3:

Teams are in alphabetical order

Blackford Lady Bruins (4-5)

  • April 28: won 3-2 vs. Cowan
  • April 29: lost 12-1 at Eastbrook

Top Performance: Gracie Townsend-Strait went 1-for-4 at the plate and hit the walk-off RBI into a fielder's choice against Cowan on April 28.

Cowan Blackhawks (6-8)

  • April 28: lost 3-2 at Blackford
  • April 29: won 9-2 at marion
  • April 30: lost 14-1 at Union County
  • May 1: won 14-2 at Wapahani

Top Performance: Bryleigh Hiatt went 2-for-4 and hit a three-run homer in Cowan's win over Wapahani on May 1.

Daleville Broncos (10-2)

  • April 29: lost 10-0 at Shenandoah
  • May 3: won 19-12 at Bluffton
  • May 3: won 12-10 at Bluffton (DH)

Top Performance: Valyn Pattengale collected five hits in six at-bats and logged three RBIs in Daleville's first victory over Bluffton on May 3.

Delta Eagles (4-11)

  • April 28: lost 13-0 vs. Mt. Vernon
  • April 30: won 14-3 at Monroe Central

Top Performance: Haley Loser went 3-for-4 at the plate and drove in two runs against Muncie Central on April 30.

Jay County Patriots (11-1)

  • April 28: won 19-2 at Wapahani
  • May 1: won 17-3 vs. Adams Central
  • May 3: lost 5-4 at Woodlan
  • May 3: won 5-0 at Woodlan (DH)

Top Performance: Carley Trinidad pitched a shutout in the Patriots' second game against Woodlan on May 3, finishing with just two hits and one walk allowed and four strikeouts. She also went 2-for-3 at the plate with two RBIs.

Monroe Central Golden Bears (0-13)

  • April 29: lost 6-3 vs. Wapahani
  • April 30: lost 15-3 vs. Delta

Top Performance: Aleiyah Davis went 2-for-3 and drove in a run against Wapahani on April 29.

Muncie Central Bearcats (0-11)

  • April 28: lost 17-0 at Wes-Del
  • April 30: lost 22-2 at Union City
  • May 1: lost 25-3 vs. Anderson

Top Performance: N/A

New Castle Trojans (6-4)

  • April 30: lost 7-3 at Lapel
  • May 3: canceled vs. New Palestine

Top Performance: Allison Perdew went 2-for-3 and logged an RBI against Lapel on April 30.

Shenandoah Lady Raiders (9-3)

  • April 28: won 3-2 vs. Tri
  • April 29: won 10-0 vs. Daleville
  • May 1: won 18-0 vs. Randolph Southern
  • May 2: lost 3-2 vs. Alexandria-Monroe

Top Performance: Olivia Watson pitched a gem on April 29 to shutout a high-powered Daleville offense. Watson went all six innings in the circle and allowed just one hit while tossing 11 strikeouts.

Wapahani Lady Raiders (1-10)

  • April 28: lost 19-2 vs. Jay County
  • April 29: won 6-3 at Monroe Central
  • May 1: lost 14-2 vs. Cowan
  • May 2: lost 15-4 vs. Frankton

Top Performance: Journey Mains lifted Wapahani to its first win of the season on April 29. She went 2-for-4 at the plate with a double and three RBIs.

Wes-Del Warriors (9-3)

  • April 28: won 25-8 vs. Muncie Central
  • May 2: won 11-0 at Tri-Central

Top Performance: Kenzie Anderson went a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate, including a double and a home run, and logged four RBIs against Tri-Central.

Winchester Community Lady Falcons (7-3)

  • April 28: lost 21-7 vs. Cambridge City Lincoln

Top Performance: Ava Lanter led the offense with two hits in four at-bats and two RBIs on April 28.

Yorktown Tigers (10-2)

  • April 28: won 10-8 at Hamilton Heights
  • April 30: won 7-3 at Greenfield-Central
  • May 1: won 9-4 vs. Westfield

Top Performance: Abbey Booher led the offense with a 3-for-4, two-RBI performance against Hamilton Heights on April 28. Booher also recorded her 100th career hit against Westfield on May 1.
