Elly De La Cruz pulls off another franchise first for Cincinnati Reds

CLEVELAND - Another day, another franchise first for Cincinnati Reds shortstop Elly De La Cruz.

When the Reds' All-Star stole second base in the fourth inning of Tuesday's game against the Cleveland Guardians, it gave him 20 for the season.

And that made him the first player in Reds history to steal 20 in each of his first three seasons.

Elly De La Cruz became the first Reds player to ever steal 20 or more bases in each of his first three seasons. He stole his 20th in the fourth inning of the Reds-Guardians game June 10 in Cleveland.

De La Cruz, who made his big-league debut in June 2023, stole 35 and 67 in his first two seasons.

A first-time All-Star last season, De La Cruz entered the day hitting .256 with a .787 OPS and team highs in home runs (12), runs batted in (43) and steals.
