ESPN NFL analyst calls Ty Simpson’s passes 'surgical'

Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson turned many heads during his playing career with the Crimson Tide and a few weeks ago during the NFL Combine.

But one NFL analyst who has been on the Simpson bandwagon since day 1 is ESPN’s Dan Orlovsky.

Orlovsky had nothing but praise for the quarterback when he appeared on “The Pat McAfee Show.”

Orlovsky has been watching Simpson’s tapes for months and offered another analysis of what he saw on film.

"Ty Simpson is surgical at throwing the football, and he's phenomenal down in the red zone, he said. He owns the line of scrimmage, and he has that play-making ability.”

On “Get Up,” Orlovsky said that Simpson reminds him of San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy.

"[TySimpson's] very much so Brock Purdy. ... I'm much higher on him than other people."

Mendoza is impressive, but I think Ty Simpson, tape-wise? Just as impressive,” he said.

Simpson is still expected to land with the Pittsburgh Steelers late in the first round as the 21st pick, but many other NFL analysts think that Simpson may end up going early in the draft to a surprise team.

The team may be the New York Jets or the Cleveland Browns. Some even speculate that a team may move up in the first round to take him.
