Ex-Giants coach Brian Daboll 'tops list' of Eagles' OC candidates

When the New York Giants dismissed head coach Brian Daboll mid-season, many questioned whether he would attract interest for head coaching positions with other teams in the offseason.

Earlier this week, reports emerged that Daboll was scheduled to interview with the Tennessee Titans for their head coaching vacancy on Friday.

As that interview approaches, the former Giants head coach is also drawing interest from the Philadelphia Eagles regarding their offensive coordinator position.

Daboll originally secured the Giants’ head coaching role after serving as offensive coordinator for the Buffalo Bills for four seasons.

The Eagles’ vacancy presents an intriguing opportunity for Daboll in his next role. He previously worked briefly with Philadelphia head coach Nick Sirianni in 2012, when both were members of the Kansas City Chiefs’ offensive staff.

Joining the Eagles would also reunite Daboll with quarterback Jalen Hurts and running back Saquon Barkley, having coached Barkley during his tenure with the Giants and served as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Alabama in 2017 while working with Hurts.

The offensive coordinator position in Philadelphia would also allow Daboll to face his former team twice each season. However, he has reportedly spoken highly of the Giants organization to John Harbaugh and other candidates the team has interviewed for its head coaching vacancy. Given these recent comments, there appears to be no lingering animosity following his dismissal.

Should Daboll take charge of the Eagles’ offense, it could pose challenges for the Giants in their divisional matchups. Nonetheless, Philadelphia evidently holds its former divisional rival’s head coach in high regard and sees significant value in what he could bring to the role of offensive coordinator.
