Falcons RB Bijan Robinson sets yet another team record in loss to Bucs

Bijan Robinson was a force for the Falcons in 2024 despite some ups and downs that Atlanta had as a team, and he continued to be a key contributor right out of the gate in Sunday's season-opening loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

He did that quite literally -- putting the first points on the scoreboard for Atlanta with a 50-yard touchdown reception in just his second time touching the ball this season.

By early on in the fourth quarter, Robinson's 94 receiving yards had put him over the 1,000-yard mark for his career. He accomplished the feat in just 35 games, making him the fastest Falcons running back in history to reach that mark, as was noted by the team reporter Tori McElhaney.

Robinson ultimately finished the contest as the team's leading receiver and its leading rusher, something that perfectly illustrates the high level of versatility he brings that originally made him a No. 8 overall draft selection by the Falcons in 2023.

At the end of the contest, he tallied 24 rushing yards on an uncharacteristic game for the Falcons on the ground, but also had six receptions for 100 yards with one touchdown. This comes on the heels of a standout 2024 season in which Robinson recorded 1,456 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns on 304 carries.

How he builds upon this foundation -- and how the Falcons rushing attack finds its footing -- will be something to keep an eye on as the season progresses.
