Fans in Disbelief Over Marina Mabrey's Punishment After Caitlin Clark Shove originally appeared on Athlon Sports.

After missing five games due to a quadriceps strain, Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark showed no rust in her first tilt back against the New York Liberty on June 7.

Clark played a crucial role in handing the Liberty their first loss of the season, finishing with a team-high 32 points, 8.0 rebounds, 9.0 assists, 2.0 steals, and a career-high tying seven threes made.

Looking to remain a contender in the Commissioner's Cup, Clark and Co. needed a win over the Connecticut Sun on June 17.

While things got chippy early in the matchup between Clark and Sun guard Jacy Sheldon, her former college rival, emotion boiled over the third quarter involving Connecticut's Marina Mabrey.

After Clark got poked in the eye by Sheldon, Clark responded with a shove. Bu then Mabrey then came in and pushed Clark to the floor.

The WNBA referee's deliberated for quite some time before announcing multiple punishments. While Sheldon received a flagrant 1, Clark, Tina Charles, and Mabrey received technical fouls.

Fans and analysts were in disbelief that Mabrey wasn't ejected. CBS Sports' Davis Eickolt posted, "Marina Mabrey being allowed to stay in the game further proves how big of a joke WNBA officials are. A player is holding their eye and gets thrown to the floor from the back."

ESPN's Michael Voepel wrote, "I'm stunned the officials did not eject Marina Mabrey."

One fan commented, "Ridiculous ruling. The Refs need to be replaced or the rule book needs updating. This league isn’t serious or professional. @WNBA clean up the game!"

Barstool Sports' Dave Portnoy added, "Imagine not kicking Marina Mabrey out after she assaults the face of the league? Just a common tech? Sick league @WNBA Also shouldn’t have been a tech on Caitlin since that girl got in her face after gouging her eyes."

Another fan wrote, "They're not ejecting Mabrey for that!?!?! I think even she is surprised by that one."
