The offseason in college football is a great time for the hype machine to get going, particularly for teams that weren't successful last year but appear to be on the rise going forward.

While confidence and hype are encouraged and expected traits among college football players and fans, someone might want to tell Florida State quarterback Thomas Castellanos to tone it down a notch or two.

In particular, it's Seminoles fans who are begging their new quarterback to quiet down.

On Monday, Castellanos — a transfer from Boston College — was interviewed for a story with On3, and he had some outlandish things to say, particularly about the Seminoles upcoming game with the Alabama Crimson Tide.

"They don't have Nick Saban to save them," Castellanos said to On3's Pete Nakos. "I just don't see them stopping me."

In his two years with the Eagles, Castellanos threw for 3,614 yards in 21 games, tossing 33 touchdowns and 19 interceptions. In his 20 games as a starter for Boston College, Castellanos was 11-9.

While Alabama had a down year in 2024, the first of Kalen DeBoer's tenure, it's fair to think they aren't trembling over a Week 1 matchup with Castellanos and the Seminoles, who went 2-10 last season.

Castellanos may not have realized this, but Florida State fans do, and they're begging for their new QB to read the room and walk back his comments.

"WTF are you doing Tommy?" one fan asked.

"Easy to see why he was benched at BC," another added. "Kid is an absolute idiot, he better back his words up."

"We may lose by 30," one Seminoles supported commented

This story has blown up nationally, as well, with college football reporters catching wind of the quotes from Castellanos and acting in disbelief.

"My guess is Thomas Castellanos wont be made available to the media for a while moving forward," 247Sports' Brian Dohn added.

While the Week 1 matchup may not be particularly close — Alabama is widely considered a top-10 team in preseason polls, while Florida State is largely unranked — it definitely has some drama and intrigue thanks to the recent developments.

So, we can thank Castellanos for that, at the very least.
