Former Bucs CB and Super Bowl champion set to miss all of 2025
A former Bucs Super Bowl cornerback is now set to miss the 2025 season after suffering an injury away from the field.
Cardinals cornerback Sean Murphy-Bunting was placed on the reserve/non-football injury list last week. The injury and its severity were not and have not been reported at this time. ESPN's John Weinfuss reported the injury was known to the Cardinals before the NFL Draft, which affected their plans. As a result, they drafted both Will Johnson and Denzel Burke to add depth at the cornerback position to help cover his absence.
Murphy-Bunting signed with the Cardinals after leaving the Bucs in 2024, signing a three-year, $25 million deal.
Murphy-Bunting was drafted by the Bucs in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft with the 39th overall pick. While with the Bucs, he accumulated 188 total tackles, six tackles for a loss, six interceptions, with one being a pick-6. He also broke up 21 passes and played in 53 games for the team while being a member of their Super Bowl-winning team in 2020.
