Former Eagles undrafted CB sits on the doorstep of a crowning achievement
Here we go again. The New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks are meeting in the Super Bowl for the second time, with the Vince Lombardi Trophy on the line. It's the stage the Philadelphia Eagles believed they could reach, and didn't. They have no one to blame but themselves.
The lone consolation is seeing familiar faces back on the game's biggest stage. Milton Williams, one of New England's marquee offseason additions, headlines the group. He's joined on the Patriots' roster by Christian Elliss and Mack Hollins, while Josh Jobe and Brady Russell are also part of the Super Bowl picture.
And, how about Jobe? A five-foot-eleven, 190-pound cornerback who went undrafted through seven rounds of the 2022 NFL Draft. He landed in Philadelphia as an undrafted rookie free agent.
In two seasons as an Eagle, he appeared in 32 games, including four playoff appearances. He notched one postseason tackle. He started three games in total and notched 23 total tackles, four pass breakups, and a forced fumble.
Philadelphia saw fit to move on August 27, 2024, and Jobe signed to the Seahawks practice squad two days later. Under the new head coach, Mike Macdonald, he blossomed. He eventually supplanted Tariq Woolen as the starter. After missing out on Super Bowl glory with the Eagles, who lost to the Kansas City Chiefs in February 2023, he has a chance for personal vindication.
Can Josh Jobe and his Seahawks teammates take the crown in Super Bowl 60?
If this were the Super Bowl matchup you predicted back in September, you're in the wrong profession. Pack up the family, move to Vegas, and start setting lines and odds.
For the first time since Seattle's infamous decision to throw the ball rather than hand it to Marshawn Lynch, the Seahawks and Patriots are meeting with everything on the line. Let's be honest. If you weren't annoyed by that play call, you weren't watching, or you were wearing a Patriots jersey.
Now, Seattle gets a chance at redemption. The question is whether they'll seize it, or if New England will add yet another chapter to its championship history. There's no Legion of Boom. No Lynch. No Pete Carroll or Russell Wilson.
Now the Seahawks have their chance at redemption. Can they get it done, or will the Patriots write another chapter about championship glory? There's no Legion of Boom or Lynch to tote the rock. There's no Pete Carroll or Russell Wilson.
Tom Brady and Bill Belichick are long gone. So is Malcolm Butler, the unlikeliest of Super Bowl heroes. Instead, it's Mike Macdonald versus Mike Vrabel, and a cast headlined by Milton Williams, Christian Elliss, Mack Hollins, Brady Russell, and Josh Jobe.
Nope. There's no way we saw this coming at the start of the season, but that's exactly why we keep tuning in. That's why we come back to watch season after season.
