Former LSU baseball star Tre Morgan closing in on MLB promotion
Former LSU baseball star Tre Morgan continues to crush it for the Tampa Bay Rays AAA squad and could be on the way to the major leagues soon.
"Through his first 32 games with Triple-A Durham, the No. 4-ranked prospect in the Tampa Bay system has held an impressive .294/.434/.374 line with six doubles, one long ball, a stolen base, and a strong 31:25 K:BB. Last summer, Morgan spent time with Low-A, High-A, and even Double-A. Through 100 cumulative games, the No.79-ranked prospect in the game held a .324/.408/.483 line. If he can continue to produce at Triple-A, Morgan should be in the mix to join Tampa Bay during the stretch run," RotoBaller's Andy Smith wrote.
Durham activated Morgan from the IL on June 18, but it didn't take Morgan long to get going upon his return. Post activation, Morgan owns a .929 OPS with eight runs scored.

According to MLB.com, Morgan is the No. 72-ranked prospect in baseball.
"From LSU to Tampa Bay, anyone who watches Morgan’s soft hands and quick reactions at the cold corner comes away thinking he could win multiple Gold Gloves there," writes MLB.com.
