Former NFL RB blasts Steelers' T.J. Watt for no-show vs. Bengals: 'Did he play today?'
T.J. Watt had one of the worst performances of his career in the Pittsburgh Steelers’ Thursday Night Football matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals — and former All-Pro RB LeSean McCoy isn’t letting him off the hook easily.
On a new episode of the Speakeasy podcast, McCoy tore into Watt’s production vs. the Bengals — questioning whether the Steelers’ star defender even played on Thursday.
“In the fourth quarter, I made a call to the police. Has anybody found T.J.? Did he play today?” McCoy said. “You got a 40-year-old quarterback in the backfield that can’t move a lick, and I see no pressure. … T.J. Watt, you made a big deal about getting paid this offseason, and you ain’t played at all today.”
Watt’s output wasn’t just bad — it was his worst of the season. According to NFL Next Gen Stats, Watt’s two pressures on 36 pass-rush attempts marked his lowest pressure rate (5.4%) through six games.
While it’s easy to assign blame to Watt, one could argue that Pittsburgh’s consistent struggles on Thursday Night Football fall on HC Mike Tomlin — a sentiment former Steelers S Ryan Clark also echoed following the Week 7 loss.
