Former New England Patriots First Team All-Pro and Super Bowl champion cornerback Stephon Gilmore announced his retirement from the NFL on Thursday.

"Five-time Pro-Bowl CB Stephon Gilmore announced on IG that he is retiring from the NFL," ESPN senior NFL insider Adam Schefter posted on X.

Gilmore played four seasons with the Patriots from 2017 to 2020 after opening his career with five years with the Buffalo Bills.

He made three straight Pro Bowls with New England during his final trio of seasons with the team, earned two First Team All-Pro nods and was named the AP Defensive Player of the Year following the 2019 campaign.

Gilmore led the NFL in passes defended (20) and interceptions (six) that season and also won a Super Bowl during the 2018 campaign with the Patriots.

The South Carolina product wrapped up his career by earning his fifth and final Pro Bowl honor in 2021 with the Carolina Panthers and spent one season apiece with the Indianapolis Colts (2022), Dallas Cowboys (2023) and Minnesota Vikings (2024).
