Former Wisconsin quarterback to reenter NCAA transfer portal
Former Wisconsin quarterback Braedyn Locke announced his plan to reenter the transfer portal on Wednesday.
Locke spent the 2025 season at Arizona after transferring from Wisconsin last winter. He appeared in just four games, operating as Noah Fifita's primary backup. He finished the season with five completions on just 15 attempts, 68 passing yards and an interception.
"Arizona has felt like home to me since the day I walked in the building," Locke wrote on X. "This past year has been one of the most rewarding years of my football journey, filled with experiences and relationships that will stay with me long after my time here. I'm so grateful for my coaches and teammates who have believed in me, pushed me, and made this experience special for me in ways that go far beyond football. I'm so proud to be a part of this team and I'll never forget the adversity that we overcame together as a team. Moving forward into next season, I will be entering my name in the transfer portal."
Locke began his career at Mississippi State back in 2022. He transferred to Wisconsin the following offseason, joining a revamped quarterback room after the program's hire of Phil Longo and planned shift to an air raid scheme. The former four-star recruit played in five games in 2023 in relief of starter Tanner Mordecai, completing 50% of his passes for 777 yards, five touchdowns and an interception. His playing time then more than doubled in 2024 after starter Tyler Van Dyke suffered a season-ending knee injury in Week 3. Locke finished that campaign with 11 total appearances, completing 55.4% of his passes for 1,936 yards, 13 touchdowns and 10 interceptions.
The quarterback later entered the portal after the season, following Longo's firing, with the program set to overhaul its quarterback room under a new coordinator.

Locke now returns to the portal with two years of eligibility remaining. He can officially enter when the window opens on Jan. 2, 2026.
