FSU softball run-rules North Carolina

The No. 12 Florida State Seminoles softball team completed its sweep of the North Carolina Tar Heels with a 10-2 run-rule victory on Sunday at JoAnne Graf Field. They are now 39-7 overall and 15-3 in ACC play

The Seminoles took a 1-0 lead in the first inning and blew it open in the fourth with a six-run outburst. Ashtyn Danley walked it off in the fifth inning with a two-RBI single, scoring Hayley Griggs and Isa Torres to complete the run-rule.

Danley had another excellent day at the plate, going 2-4 with a three-run homer and 5 RBI. It was her second straight game with a three-run home run, and she is up to seven homers on the season.

FSU had 13 hits in the game, with six different players having two. Torres went 2-2 with two walks, raising her batting average to .589 as she continues to contend with the NCAA record. They worked four walks and struckout twice.

Jazzy Francik got the win for FSU, allowing one run in 3.1 innings on four hits and three walks with three strikeouts. She is now 17-2 with a 2.03 ERA. Danley got the final out of the game.

It was senior night for the Seminoles, and Madi Frey and Makenna Reid both played. Reid pitched 1.1 innings, allowing one run on one hit with one strikeout. Frey went 0-1 at the plate.
