Roma surrendered the three points to Como at the Sinigaglia stadium.

Having taken the lead thanks to a goal from the usual Donyell Malen, the Giallorossi conceded a 2-1 lead, temporarily dropping out of the Champions League spot.

The race for fourth place now becomes more complicated for Gian Piero Gasperini’s men, who spoke to Sky Sport after the final whistle.

The Giallorossi coach had his say on Wesley’s red card: “I prefer to ignore it. There’s nothing wrong with it, it doesn’t even go in, it even moves. Does it change the game? Well, certainly. It’s not the first time Como has had these situations, which are also a bit attempted, perhaps a bit too much. I won’t go into the details; I’ve spoken elsewhere.”

Despite the defeat, Gasperini praised the team: “These guys are always giving their all, even in difficult situations, Hermoso as well. Other players too. We know we’re in a crucial moment, but I can’t fault these guys for anything.”

He then returned to the refereeing errors: “Things aren’t going well for us: in Genoa there was a glaring penalty for us and then we lost the match, and today something similar happened. We have to hold on. We know we have another very important match on Thursday. Then on Sunday, another match and the break. The championship is still long, there are nine games left, and what we haven’t managed to achieve in these last two matchdays, maybe we can make up for it between April and May.”

Gasperini also commented on Wesley’s red card on DAZN: “I’ve already seen it all, I’ve already commented on other occasions, but it’s pointless to comment on this moment of football, especially on the simulations. This is a tough episode, like the equalizer, because we knew they were good at making these cuts and dealing with the goalkeeper’s long balls, which we had defended well.”

Finally, the coach spoke about Malen and Zeki Celik’s injury: “Dependence on Malen? We’re also quite dependent… If he always has these situations like this, fairly clear, even clear-cut every game, it means the team is working hard to build. Celik’s injury? A calf problem. We hope it was just the beginning of cramp, because for us, he’s a player who can play in multiple positions. I would probably have moved him to defense. Let’s hope he can recover for Thursday. We don’t know yet.”
