How safe is Joe Mazzulla's job with the Boston Celtics?
Joe Mazzulla has just completed his third season as the Boston Celtics' head coach. During his tenure, Mazzulla has overseen the implementation of a distinct brand of basketball that often splits the fan base. Under his stewardship, Boston likes to attack from the perimeter with relentless aggression, as they look to win the math game against their opponents.
In fairness, Mazzulla Ball helped the Celtics win a championship in 2024. Boston has also been one of the best regular-season rosters during his tenure as head coach. However, the team's second-round capitulation at the hands of the New York Knicks in the 2025 NBA Playoffs likely didn't sit well with the fan base.
During a recent episode of the "Celtics Beat" podcast, hosts Adam Kaufman and Evan Valenti were joined by Matt Moore of The Action Network. The trio discussed Mazzulla's job security and whether he's overrated as a head coach. The trio looked at the Celtics' style of play, roster construction and talent development under his leadership before making a decision on whether his job is secure heading into next season.
