How valuable is the Minnesota Vikings franchise? We now have an answer

The beautiful thing about the NFL is that there are only 32 teams that make up the league. Being a part of an ownership group, or a family that owns a team, is something special. People always want to buy their way into the elite club, but it is never easy.

On Wednesday, Sportico reminded us all why it isn't so easy.

Sportico is a digital media company that compiles the values of NFL clubs each year. They lay out their process, writing, "NFL franchise valuation, derived from metrics by which football-team transactions occur, including aggregating local and national revenues and factoring in a team-specific multiplier. This represents the market value of the team itself, excluding related businesses held by its owners. It includes the value of each franchise’s 3.13% interest in the league’s properties, including NFL Films, NFL RedZone, 32 Equity (the private equity investment vehicle established by the NFL in 2013) and its digital platforms, which are acquired/dispossessed in tandem with the sale of a team."

With that in mind, the Wilf family and their ownership of the Vikings were valued at $6.28 billion, up 18% from last season. They are the 20th-ranked franchise in terms of value, the same place they had heading into the 2024 season.

Perhaps with a successful season with J.J. McCarthy that includes a playoff run, they can climb up the ranks for the first time in three years.
