The Jimtown and Triton baseball teams both saw successful seasons come to a close in regional play Saturday, June 7.
The Jimmies dropped a 9-0 decision to No. 6 Boone Grove in the LaPorte Regional, while the Trojans fell 6-4 to Fort Wayne Canterbury in the Class 1A Logansport Regional.
Both Boone Grove (23-6) and Canterbury (13-8) advance to semistate play on Saturday, June 14, with the locations and game times to be determined by the IHSAA.
Jimtown, playing in a regional for the first time since 2007, ran into a red-hot Boone Grove squad. The champions won their 14th game in a row to claim the program's ninth regional crown and first since 2018. Boone Grove has outscored its foes 315-65 this season.
Jimtown, which outscored three opponents 27-1 to dominate the Bremen Sectional, finished at 22-8.
Canterbury scored five runs in the final two innings, including three in the top of the seventh frame, to sideline Triton.
Triton trailed 3-2 before scoring in the bottom of the sixth to tie the contest. Canterbury then took a 6-3 lead before the Trojans scored once in their final at-bat.
Junior Maddox Dennie and freshman Levi McFarland each had two hits for Triton, which had just one senior on its roster.
Freshman Ryder Goodman had a double and an RBI for the Trojans. Junior Drew Bingamon had a triple and was the losing pitcher with eight strikeouts and two walks in seven innings of work.
