In-form Devlin earns Australia recall

Hearts midfielder Cammy Devlin has been recalled to the Australia squad for the first time since Tony Popovic became head coach last year.

The Sydney-born 27-year-old, who has four caps for the Socceroos, has been in excellent form this season for the Edinburgh side, who currently lead the Scottish Premiership.

Devlin's inclusion is one of eight changes to Popovic's squad for friendlies against World Cup hosts Canada in Montreal on 11 October and the United States four days later in Colorado.

Hibernian forward Martin Boyle retains his place along with right-back Lewis Miller, who moved from the Leith club to Blackburn Rovers this summer.

Devlin will compete for a place in central midfield with Dundee-born Alex Robertson.

The 22-year-old, who has represented both Australia and England at youth level and had a loan spell with Ross County, has been called up for the first time since October 2023 after being approached by Peru to train with them.

Australia are unbeaten in 10 matches under Popovic.
