The Indianapolis Colts' 53-man roster may be assembled, but next up for GM Chris Ballard is putting together the practice squad.
From the time rosters were officially set at 4:00 PM ET on Tuesday through Wednesday at 12:00 PM ET, teams could put in waiver claims on released players with fewer than four accrued NFL seasons.
Any players who go unclaimed are then free agents and can sign where they please, most likely joining a team's practice squad at that point.
Most of the practice squad additions made by the Colts will be players who were on the training camp roster, but there are also likely to be a few outside additions as well.
2025 Practice squad rules
- Teams can have up to 16 players on the practice squad. That number becomes 17 if one of those players is part of the International Pathway Program. Those players are exempt.
- Of the 16 players, up to six of them can be veterans with unlimited NFL experience. The other 10 must be first or second-year players.
- Players on the practice squad do not count towards a team's salary cap.
