Iowa football QB Mark Gronowski turning heads at East-West Shrine Bowl
Don't look now, but the Iowa Hawkeyes are once again flexing their muscles with future NFL talent! As so many Hawkeyes have done, Iowa is showing out at the East-West Shrine Bowl this week.
Iowa's record-breaking return man, Kaden Wetjen, has already been lighting up the practices with his production as a wide receiver. Joining him in turning heads at the East-West Shrine Bowl practices is Iowa's quarterback, Mark Gronowski.
Known largely for his legs while with the Hawkeyes, Gronowski is a very seasoned passer, having thrown for 12,049 yards and 103 passing touchdowns during his collegiate career. He did use his legs very well, running for 2,312 yards and another 53 touchdowns on the ground, highlighted by 16 rushing touchdowns for the Hawkeyes during the 2025 season.
With a shot at the NFL, Gronowski is making the most of his opportunity to perform in front of NFL scouts, and it is drawing attention from social media.
Iowa QB Mark Gronowski has been a strong contender for QB1 here at the Shrine Bowl.
Looks very comfortable under center, climbing the pocket, thrown from different angles today, and just had a nice throw up the seam that drew some shouts from scouts— AJ Schulte (@AJSchulteFB) January 24, 2026
More 7-on-7:
-Another win for GT’s Eric Rivers. The WR is showing off the full skill set today, to say the least.

One again, @HawkeyeFootball QB Mark Gronowski continues to draw my attention.
All-time winningest QB in NCAA history. Throws a really good ball. Strong zip, good accuracy and spiral is tight.

GREAT throw from @HawkeyeFootball QB Mark Gronowski in 7v7 deep down the middle to @GatorsFB WR J. Michael Sturdivant.
Gronowski ripped it, put it over outstretched arm of the LB into a tight window. Big-time throw.— Josh Carney (@ByJoshCarney) January 24, 2026

Day 0 Shrine Bowl East throwing session notes:
Two quarterbacks stood out to me above the rest.
Mark Gronowski showed consistent accuracy with enough juice to drive the ball.
Haynes King stood out with arm strength and a confident throwing motion.
