Is Tee Higgins playing today? Latest updates on Bengals WR for Week 16

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins was a question mark leading up to his team’s Week 16 road game against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday.

Dealing with his second bout of concussion issues over the last month, the severity of those, plus the fact the Bengals were eliminated from playoff contention, made it worth wondering if Higgins would return to Joe Burrow’s offense in Week 16.

Here’s the latest.

Tee Higgins injury updates

  • NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported the following on Sunday morning before kickoff: “Before #Bengals WR Tee Higgins was cleared from the NFL's concussion protocol, Cincy had Higgins see renowned concussion expert Dr. Micky Collins in Pittsburgh to confirm the clearance and offer additional reassurance that Higgins was cleared to play.”
  • Higgins missed Week 15 against the Ravens while in concussion protocol.
  • Higgins self-reported concussion symptoms after a game in which he left multiple times to be checked during a loss to the Bills in Week 14.
  • Higgins missed Week 13 while in concussion protocol.

Bengals WR depth chart

  • Ja’Marr Chase
  • Tee Higgins
  • Andre Iosvias
  • Charlie Jones
  • Mitchell Tinsley
  • Ke'Shawn Williams

The Bengals claimed Ke'Shawn Williams from the Pittsburgh Steelers on the waiver wire to cover for the Charlie Jones injury. They’re a few weeks removed from cutting Jermaine Burton, which was also part of the thought process there. Higgins could be a on a pitch count, perhaps giving more chances to Andrei Iosivas and Mitchell Tinsley in the base offense.
