It was another impressive day for John Glenn and Tri-Valley's track teams | Friday top performers

NEWTON TOWNSHIP — John Glenn's girls and Tri-Valley's boys picked up team titles at the annual Jerry Neal Invitational at the Maysville Athletic Complex.

Jessica Church, Brayden Snider and Ashlynn Kuklica won three events for the Muskies, who totaled 139 points to edge Tri-Valley (115 1/2) in the 12-team event featuring eight Muskingum Valley league teams and Rosecrans.

Tri-Valley, which totaled 121 points, again rode strong field events to edge Morgan (118) for the title. West M was fourth (74) and Philo sixth (51 1/2).

Boys

Chris Gargasz reached a season-best 58-0 to win the shot and marked 168-5 in the discus for Tri-Valley, which also got wins from Alexander Hogue in the 1600 (4:54.3), Dalton Crozier in the 3200 (9:49.1), Steyr Rognon in the high jump (6-0) and Lucca Gargasz in the long jump (22-3 1/2). Kam Karns added a runner-up in the 110 high hurdles (:16.03).

Morgan got wins from Braylon Miller in the 200 (:22.53) and 400 (:50.47) and was second to West M's Lane Kennedy in the 100 (:11.42). Hayden Bankes claimed the 300 relay (:42.63), Clark Smith was second in the 3200 (10:26.8) and Jaxon Pauley second in the long jump (20-9). The 4x200 (1:32.9) and 4x400 (3:38.4) were also second.

Kennedy clocked at :11.25 in the 100, while he also ran legs on the 4x100 (:44.19) and 4x200 (1:31.4) and was second in the 200 (:22.97). Jaxon Prang was third in the 200 (:23.18) and anchored the 4x100.

Deacon Scott won the 100 (:15.26) and pole vault (11-0) for Philo, while Alex Evans was third in the 110 hurdles (:16.22).

Ethan Zell was second in the 800 for John Glenn, which was also second in the 4x800 (9:06.2). Conner Wells was second in the 300 hurdles (:44.03) and Titus Morrow second in the pole vault (11-0), while the Bishops were also second in the 4x100 (:45.01).

Crooksville's Grayson Houk was third in the 400 (:52.34) and Luke Sheets third in the 3200 (10:37.7), while Rosecrans saw Maysville was led by Collin Mathers' third in the 300 hurdles (:44.32).

Girls

Church won the 200 (:26.86) and 400 (:59.55), Kuklica the 800 (2:19.3) and 1600 (5:15.7) and Snyder the long jump (16-5 1/2) and pole vault (10-6) for John Glenn, which also saw its 4x800 place second (11:42.0) and Brelynn Barr take third in the shot (30-10).

Lydia Ripple won the 100 (:12.91) for Tri-Valley, which won the 4x200 (1:53.6) and 4x400 (4:46.0). Mackenzie Harvey took second in the shot (34-7) and third in the discus (117-0) and Erin Hogue was second in the 1600 (5:27.6). Taylor Crozier was third in the 200 (:27.67) and Jordyn Frost third in the 3200 (14:07.0).

Bella Van Wey won the shot (41-10) and was second in the discus (118-2) for Maysville, which also got a runner-up from Aaliyah Whitehair in the 100 (:13.03) and a third from Emma Tamasovich in the long jump (16-0 1/4).

Jocelynn Bowen ran to wins in the 100 hurdles (:16.08) and 300 hurdles (:50.01) and anchored the winning 4x100 relay (:52.62) for New Lex; Ava Snedeker took the high jump (5-2).

Philo's Halli Harris was second in the 200 (:27.11) and long jump (16-2) and was third in the 100 (:13.06), while Aubree DeLong was second in the 100 hurdles (:16.15) and Delylah Boetcher second in the pole vault (10-0). Philo was also second in the 4x100 (:52.86).

Hannah Sheets won the 3200 (12:28.5) to pace Crooksville; Molly Spiker was second in the 300 hurdles (:51.04) and third in the 100 hurdles (:17.37) for West M, which also was second in the 4x200 (1:53.7).

Sheridan girls second at Circleville: The Generals ran to wins in the 4x200 (1:49.4) and 4x400 (4:19.4) to place second behind Vincent Warren among nine teams at the Circleville National Guard Invitational.

Beckett Strong was second in the 800 (2:24.7), Adrianna Pack second in the 3200 (12:58.9) and Sheriden Glanemann second in the 1600 (5:39.0) for Sheridan, which also placed second in the 4x100 (:53.63) and 4x800 (10:30.3).

In the boys meet, Hunter Adams ran to a win in the 400 (:51.62), was second in the 200 (:23.60) and third in the long jump (20-3 1/4) as Sheridan was fourth.

Creed Hill added a runner-up in the shot (48-11 1/2) and Hudson Wilson a second in the 1600 (4:41.4).

Softball

Tri-Valley 8, Meadowbrook 5: Delaney Bell collected two hits and drove in three runs and Alivia Reffitt had two hits and scored twice to lead the Scotties past the Colts in a MVL crossover.

Paiton Murphy had nine strikeouts and allowed five hits in a complete game win and Ally Peterson also had two RBIs for Tri-Valley, which plated four runs in the third to take a 5-4 lead.

Natalee Norman belted a two-run homer and Alexx Combs had a hit with two RBIs as the Colts scored four times in the top of the first inning.

West Muskingum 12, Philo 2 (5 inn.): Gabbi Hammer hit a pair of 3-run homers to lead the Tornadoes to a MVL crossover win.

Addy Antonetz also homered among her three hits with two RBIs, Kadie Bare doubled, homered and knocked in three runs and Lydiah Huey added two hits for West M. Bare also earned the win, allowing just four hits in five innings.

Kyleigh McGraw hit a solo home run and singled home a run and Bri Wolfe doubled for the Electrics.

John Glenn 2, New Lexington 1 (8 inn.): Kendall Snider struck out 20 in a one-hitter and singled home Kinley Porter for the winning run, as the Muskies outlasted the Panthers.

Libby Brown and Ava Miller had two hits for John Glenn, while Mia Metzger scattered eight hits in a complete game loss and had the Panthers' only hit.

Morgan 6, Crooksville 3: Blair Clawson hit a two-run home run in a four-run fourth and Allia Rush went 4-for-4 with a double and two runs scored in the Raiders' MVL win.

Rush had seven strikeouts and allowed four hits in a complete game win, Payton Lahmers added two hits and two RBIs and Chloe Baker, Paige Lanning and Remi Keirns chipped in two hits.

Elyse Baker had a single with two RBIs and Paige Frame doubled for the Ceramics.

Rosecrans 21, Fairfield Christian 3 (5 inn.): Emily Jenkins went 4-for-4 with three doubles, four runs scored and four RBIs and Kerry Thompson added a double and two singles and scored three times to lead the Bishops in a MSL win.

Jenkins earned the win with eight strikeouts in three innings, Kate Ward added two hits and two runs scored, Dakota Householder had two hits, two RBIs and four runs scored and Mallory Moody had two singles and three runs scored.

Baseball

Rosecrans 2, Fairfield Christian 0: Winning pitcher Jacobie Balo fanned six in a perfect game, as the Bishops scored a key MSL victory.

Balo also doubled, singled and scored on an error in a two-run fourth. Hayden Perdue also came home on an error later in that frame and Kohen Harris had the Bishops' only other hit.

New Lexington 3, Coshocton 2: The Panthers stayed atop the MVL Small School with a three-run sixth.

Carson Fortner drew a bases-loaded walk and Wyatt Givens and Gus Pearson hit RBI sac flies to account for New Lex's runs. Nathan Gottke made it stand, scattering six hits in a complete game win and Clay Miller had two of the Panthers' four hits.

Calan Shaw went the distance in the loss, fanning three, and Shaw and Parker Loomis had a single and a RBI.

Sheridan 3, West Muskingum 2 (8 inn.): Austin Cannon walked it off with a two-run single in the bottom of the eighth in the Generals' victory.

Noah Wamer had four strikeouts in four innings of relief for the win and Tyler Turns had five strikeouts in four innings, as they combined to allow just five hits. Cannon had two of Sheridan's five hits.

Wes Houston and Sam Wiseman doubled for West M, which took a 2-1 lead in the top of the eighth on an error. Ashton Ansel had five strikeouts in 4 1/3 innings of relief in the taking the loss and Conner Lynn tossed 3 1/3 scoreless innings as the starter.

Crooksville 4, John Glenn 3: Eli Sprankle doubled among his three hits and Brody Cottrell added a double, a single and a RBI, as Kyle Lane scored on an error in the top of the seventh to give the Ceramics the win.

Cottrell had nine strikeouts in a two-hitter for the win, while Trent Milliner started and had six strikeouts in 6 1/3 innings in the no decision. Kayson Hoff and Zane Townsend had a single and a RBI for the Muskies.

Hiland 4, Tri-Valley 1: Colin Coblentz fanned 10 and allowed one hit in four scoreless innings and also drove in a run, as the Hawks downed the Scotties.

Coblentz and Logan Yoder, who earned the save, combined on a two-hitter, while Brady Kaufman went the distance in the loss, allowing four runs, three earned, on six hits with seven strikeouts and two walks.

Gavin Harrold and Isaiah Cullins had Tri-Valley's only hits.
