Jaguars' HC Liam Coen on Travis Etienne not being at Tuesday's OTA practice

Jacksonville Jaguars' running back Travis Etienne was not at Tuesday's OTA practice.

This was the team's fourth OTA practice and the second that was open to the media. It's important to note that these practices are voluntary, and Etienne was at the first OTA practice last Monday.

Following Tuesday's practice, head coach Liam Coen was asked about Etienne's absence.

"He just had a flight situation," Coen said. "So no issues."

Etienne is coming off a down 2024 season, although the play of the offensive line didn't help the run game. After eclipsing 1,000 yards in each of his first two seasons, Etienne totaled just 558 last year at only 3.7 yards per rush, per PFF.

Etienne is entering the final year of his rookie deal, and in the NFL draft, the Jaguars added two running backs to the mix, taking Bhayshul Tuten in the fourth round and LeQuint Allen in the seventh round.

How the playing time between those three, as well as Tank Bigsby, will shake out this season remains to be seen.

For what it's worth, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported earlier this offseason that he has heard from multiple people around the league that the new regime "is not so high on Travis Etienne."

"I think all together, that room, that running back room, has done a nice job in terms of the competition, the acceleration, and the teaching for some of those young guys, and also the veterans doing a nice job of trying to help those guys out as well," Coen said last Monday.
