Jaland Lowe leaving Kentucky Basketball to enter transfer portal

Kentucky Basketball point guard Jaland Lowe is entering the transfer portal and will not return to the school, his father told Jack Pilgrim of KSR.

This seemingly ends what was a disastrous one-year stay in Lexington for both Lowe and Kentucky, largely due to the dislocated shoulder he suffered in the Blue-White Game.

While he did eventually return on several occasions, Lowe ultimately was unable to keep going and had season-ending surgery in January. The soon-to-be senior will apply for a medical redshirt in hopes of getting two more seasons of college basketball instead of just one if no redshirt is granted.

Lowe transferred in from Pittsburgh last offseason after a Third-Team All-ACC campaign with the Panthers after averaging 16.8 points, 5.5 assists, and 4.2 rebounds per contest.

At Kentucky, his numbers dropped to just 8.0 points, 2.4 assists, and 2.1 boards per game. He appeared in just nine contests and made two starts.

As for the Wildcats, they largely built their team around Lowe, and without him, the team struggled to meet expectations and finished 22-14.

Despite the injury, Lowe remained with the team all season and did what he could to work with his teammates, so he deserves a lot of credit for giving everything he had to this team.

Best of luck to Lowe as he looks to get his basketball career back on track with another program!
