Jets CB Jarvis Brownlee appears primed to make his debut in Week 5

The New York Jets acquired cornerback Jarvis Brownlee in a trade with the Tennessee Titans on September 23rd. Prior to the deal, Brownlee was seen in a walking boot and missed the Titans' Week 3 game as a result.

The injury proved legitimate, as he remained sidelined for the the Jets' Week 4 primetime loss to the Miami Dolphins.

The Jets did not practice on Wednesday. The injury report is an estimation based on a walkthrough. Regardless, Brownlee was estimated to be a full participant.

That means Brownlee should participate physically when the Jets hold their first actual practice this week.

It'll be worth monitoring how the Jets utilize Brownlee against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 1. He arrived from Tennessee with some inside-outside versatility. Cornerback Brandon Stephens played well in Week 4. That could mean Brownlee plays some nickel corner.

"I like Jarvis' skill set," Jets defensive coordinator Steve Wilks recently said. "He's very tough, very physical, he fits our DNA. He's flexible in regards to being able to play inside as well as outside. We're looking forward to getting him out there on the field and seeing what he can do for us."

Brownlee joined the Titans as a fifth-round pick in last year's draft. The former Louisville standout quickly outperformed his draft slot, establishing himself as an every-down starter in Tennessee's secondary.

The Titans went through a regime change and decided Brownlee was no longer a fit. The Jets are thrilled to have the feisty playmaker, and indications are he'll make his debut this weekend.
