The New York Jets are heading into the 2026 offseason with a lot of work to do. Almost every position is worth addressing, as much of the roster needs to improve.

While the quarterback spot is a big issue, the Jets also need to address their defensive line, linebackers, safeties, and cornerbacks this offseason. Not to mention wide receiver, the interior of the offensive line, and running back with Breece Hall.

Overall, the Jets have plenty to work on. And they are going to make those moves, as Tony Pauline of Essentiallysports.com reports, the Jets, among other teams, will need to spend around $50 million this offseason to meet the NFL Collective Bargaining Agreement.

"Several teams, including the New York Jets, New Orleans Saints, Seattle Seahawks, Las Vegas Raiders, Los Angeles Rams and Chargers, as well as the Tennessee Titans, must spend an additional $50 million on player contracts this year to meet their three-year requirement, according to the CBA," Pauline writes.

This report is an interesting one for the Jets and the rest of those teams. The Jets have plenty of cap space, nearly $80 million, to add to their payroll this offseason.

With so many needs all across the roster, and especially at quarterback, the Jets should have no problem adding $50 million to the payroll this offseason.

The reason why the Jets need to add to their contracts is that, according to the CBA requires teams to spend 90% of the salary cap over four years. Meaning, with this report from Pauline, the Jets will need to add $50 million to reach the four-year benchmark.

Darren Mougey and Aaron Glenn will be busy this offseason, and it all begins with Hall. The Jets' best player last year on offense is set to be a free agent. But the Jets want to keep him.

Whether it's a franchise or transition tag, or an extension, the Jets don't want to let Hall walk this offseason.

And with the reported need to spend $50 million, and the Jets having $80 million in cap space, there's no reason why the Jets shouldn't be able to bring Hall back this offseason.

This storyline will be one to follow along with closely this offseason, as the Jets need to spend to become CBA compliant.
