It’s hard to put into words how charmingly unique the Boston Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla is.
When it comes to speculation, Mazzulla is famously against it. While you never truly know what he will say regardless, when asking Mazzulla a question regarding the future of his team, you should prepare yourself for the most original response you have ever heard a head coach give.
His latest viral quote is no different. He joined Boston radio show Zolak and Bertrand on Wednesday afternoon to discuss a variety of topics, including superstar forward Jayson Tatum’santicipated return to play.
When asked whether or not he is looking forward to the March 14 speculated return date, Mazzulla replied, “I don’t even know if I will be alive by then.”
“I go to bed questionable… I wake up probable,” Mazzulla said.
This then sparked a discussion on the always-serious radio show about what the head coach would do in an apocalyptic-like situation, and then how he would want to be remembered in the event of an untimely-demise.
“I would want to be forgotten immediately,” Mazzulla said. “I couldn’t be forgotten about fast enough. If people spend anytime thinking about (his own death), do something else.”
Soak it in, Celtics fans. We are living through one of the most unique eras of Boston basketball, and the man at the helm has a career winning percentage in the 70s.
