The Boston Bruins picked up a huge win at home on Thursday in their first game after the Olympic break.

Boston hosted the Columbus Blue Jackets on Thursday in a pivotal game, as Columbus is chasing the Bruins for the final Wild Card spot in the East.

The Bruins ended up edging out a 4-2 win at home, in a game that Jones Korpisalo got the start against his former team and had a stellar game.

“This was a big game regardless. I think they’re right behind us in the standings,” Korpisalo said as seen on NESN’s postgame coverage. “Obviously, playing against Columbus, I spent eight years there, so it is always fun to play against them.”

Korpisalo did leave the game for a brief moment in the second period, but did return to help Boston get the win.

“He made a couple of game-changing saves,” said Sean Kuraly. He was crucial to us winning this game. If he didn’t play like he did, it could've been a different story.”

Korpisalo finished the game making 36 saves on 38 shots, while Viktor Arvidsson had two goals, with Morgan Geekie and Kuraly had the other two goals.

With the win, Boston improved to 33-20-5 and is still holding onto the final Wild Card spot. The Bruins will return to the ice on Saturday on the road against the Philadelphia Flyers.
