Jordan Mailata shuts down any talk about Saquon Barkley potentially regressing
There are too many esteemed writers and filmmakers walking the planet for there not to be a Jordan Mailata film planned. If not, may we suggest one? We'd sleep better knowing the Philadelphia Eagles star had an autobiography in the works.
His story is too fascinating. A former rugby star who never played American football and didn't know how to snap his chinstrap eventually worked his way into becoming an All-Pro at football's highest level. It seems unrealistic, if not for the fact that we were all witnesses to its occurrence.
Even more fascinating is that he has gone from international exemption to two-time team captain. Once a relative unknown, Mailata has morphed into some new-school E.F. Hutton. When Philadelphia's left tackle talks, people most certainly listen.
The gentle giant with the voice of an angel recently put the NFL world on notice. Rumors of an expected Saquon Barkley decline have been greatly and grossly exaggerated.
Jordan Maialta has a message for the Saquon Barkley doubters.
Some might argue that there's nowhere for Saquon Barkley to go but in reverse. How does he top his Eagles debut? How is it even possible that he'd be able to do so?
We've heard what he's up against. He shouldered a heavy workload in 2024, 436 carries, including the postseason. He's a year older. Then, history isn't really on his side. No player has come close to sniffing an equally impressive season after rushing for 2,000 yards or more.
While some whisper about a Madden curse, team captain Jordan Mailata is on the opposite side of the spectrum. He has no fears of regression of any sort.
“I haven’t seen someone who’s doubled down on his routine as much as [Saquon] has.”

Well, if Mr. Mailata said it, then it must be so. Sign us up for a seat on the Saquon Barkley bus. It appears theories about an offseason have been grossly overstated.
It may seem unfair to place a demand on him for 2,005 yards and another Offensive Player of the Year trophy. It is, however, fair to state that he'll continue being one of the most dangerous weapons in Philadelphia's offensive attack. Would 1,500-1,700 yards rushing and 500 yards in the passing game be too much to ask for?
