Kentucky sets a new school record at the WNBA draft on Monday
The 2026 WNBA draft took place on Monday night, and 45 players got to hear their names announced as getting to continue their basketball dreams. Among those were four Kentucky Wildcats, which is a new school record at the event.
First up was forward Teonni Key, who was selected 22nd overall by the Toronto Tempo. She brings a terrific combination of size at 6'3" and athleticism, and has a tremendous upside.
The Chicago Sky picked point guard Tonie Morgan 32nd. A terrific passer with a good shooting touch, she just needs to cut back on the turnovers and she has the ability to become a starting caliber player.
Just a few picks later, Amelia Hassett was taken by the Los Angeles Sparks at pick 35. At 6'4", her height advantageous, but she also possesses a lethal touch from three-point range.
Finally, Jordan Obi was the 44th selection by the Las Vegas Aces. Obi is a true do-it-all player who can score when necessary, but is tough as nails and can battle for rebounds underneath.
Congratulations to all four newly drafted WNBA players. Big Blue Nation will be rooting for them to succeed at the next level of their careers.
