Lady Buffs fall in three sets
The Clarkrange Lady Buffaloes produced, possibly, one of their best efforts on the volleyball court last week when they visited rival Jackson County in Gainesboro.
The Lady Buffs were coming up big on offense, and holding their own defensively. However, Clarkrange just could not get over the hump and ended up dropping a 3-0 decision.
“In the first set, we had a rough start, but we just had a few little mistakes that hurt us,” said Clarkrange star Sophie Sitton. “Our serves were a little off the first set, but more than anything, we just didn’t talk good enough and communicate with each other.”
Jackson County took the first set 25-17. Clarkrange rallied and took the Lady Devils to the brink in the second and third sets. Unfortunately, CHS lost 24-26 and 24-26 to close out the match.
“I don’t think we really changed anything in the way of rotation or anything like that,” Sitton said. “We just kind of didn’t give up. We didn’t really give up in the first set; we just played. I feel like we played harder and played more together.”
Sitton said she is seeing a lot of development from the Lady Buffaloes as a team. However, she’s also seen improvement from her own game.
“I think I have gotten better since the beginning of the season,” Sitton said. “I missed more serves than I would like to, but things are getting better.
“I also think Rosalyn Atkinson played well. She did a good job from our libero position on the court.”
