Lady Villains capture conference wins
The Bishop McGuinness varsity girls’ basketball team claimed lopsided Greater Piedmont Triad 1A/2A conference wins over South Davidson and South Stokes on Friday and Tuesday.
The Lady Villains took control of the game in the first quarter in Friday’s home win over South Davidson (0-16) and led 38-10 at halftime. Bishop went on to win the game 70-14.
All 13 Lady Villains scored, led by senior Claire Sullivan with 17 points. Junior Grace Gerber and senior Jenna Moore each scored eight points.
On Tuesday, the Lady Villains bolted out to a 25-7 lead by the end of the first quarter, led 52-15 at halftime and went on to win 73-20 in a road game against South Stokes.
Freshman Cecilia Drabik and sophomore Maddie Taylor each came off the bench to make four 3-pointers. Drabik led the way with 14 points. Taylor had 12 points, as did senior Jenna Moore. Sullivan had eight steals, six in the first quarter, six points and six assists.
The Lady Villains (13-2, 4-0 GP 1A/2A) are scheduled to host South Stokes on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
