LSU issues statement on the CSC's NIL inquiry, result revealed
The College Sports Commission inquiry into LSU was brought to a close.
Last week, reports stated the CSC was looking into LSU over alleged unreported NIL deals. Reports revealed the inquiry was not related to LSU football's program, which was a big spender in the recent college football transfer portal. Regardless, the CSC got what it needed from LSU and the Tigers will not face discipline.
“The CSC inquiry into non-reporting has been resolved with no disciplinary action, and any deals that require submission to NIL Go have been submitted. We appreciate the CSC’s prompt review and resolution," LSU said in a statement.
Yahoo's Ross Dellenger reported that LSU wasn't the only program subject to a CSC inquiry. Dellneger noted "several other college" programs have received letters from the CSC.
The CSC is still in its early days as an organization. They aim to be the enforcement arm of the new era of college sports, but we've yet to see their authority tested yet.
Several college programs - at least one in the Big Ten and one in the Big 12 in addition to LSU - have received letters of inquiry from the CSC over last few weeks over athletes not reporting NIL deals. Some have already been resolved thru communications with CSC officials. https://t.co/QCCvhrh3FV— Ross Dellenger (@RossDellenger) January 31, 2026
