Manchester City prepares for the post-Guardiola era: three names in the frame
The Pep Guardiola era could be coming to an end at Manchester City this summer, and the club is already considering his potential successor.
According to the Telegraph, three managers are currently on the radar of the club's leadership: Xabi Alonso (formerly of Real Madrid), Enzo Maresca (formerly of Chelsea), and Cesc Fàbregas (Como). Enzo Maresca knows the club well, having coached the U23s and served as Guardiola's assistant. Cesc Fàbregas, meanwhile, played under Guardiola at Barcelona and could have a deep understanding of the legacy he'd be inheriting. Xabi Alonso has never worked with Guardiola, but remains a credible candidate and is also being tracked by Liverpool.
The Spanish tactician is under contract with City until 2027 and will soon have to decide whether to continue his adventure or move on. His decision will trigger the start of talks for his replacement.
