The Tennessee Titans made a potentially franchise-altering decision this offseason when new general manager Mike Borgonzi selected Miami quarterback Cam Ward with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
No longer will the team rely on Will Levis, a second-rounder from Kentucky in 2023, who struggled mightily with turnovers last season during the Titans' three-win campaign. Now, Ward will be given every opportunity to be the franchise player in Tennessee.
Borgonzi has already helped support Ward this offseason by keeping the running back tandem of Tony Pollard and Tyjae Spears together. He also added veteran wideouts Tyler Lockett and Van Jefferson in addition to a handful of pass-catchers during the draft.
On Friday, NFL analyst Manti Te'o talked about the Offensive Rookie of the Year award for the 2025 NFL season. He made it clear that he felt Ward was the frontrunner, not Las Vegas Raiders running back Ashton Jeanty.
"We're buying. [I am] buying that [Ward] is gonna win Offensive Rookie of the Year," Te'o said. "I really think that Cam Ward, going into this year, you need to have guys that you're going to throw the ball to, and he has really good guys. Guys that are underappreciated, in my opinion, with Calvin Ridley, Tyler Lockett, Treylon Burks, Chig Okonkwo, these are guys that can produce for you."
"Usually good things happen for you as a QB with him right by your side"

Te'o went on to describe head coach Brian Callahan's illustrious track record working with great NFL quarterbacks and used it as evidence for why Ward will perform well in 2025.
"When you have a coach like Brian Callahan, and what he can do for the quarterback position, not only as a coordinator or a head coach, but as a quarterback coach, usually, good things happen for you as the quarterback with him right by your side," Te'o said. "I really expect, and I am buying the fact, that Cam Ward after 2025 will be the Offensive Rookie Player of the Year."
If Ward were to bring home this honor, he would be the third straight quarterback to do so. He would also become the first Titans player to win this award since quarterback Vince Young did it in 2006.
Running backs Earl Campbell and Eddie George also won the award for the Houston Oilers in 1978 and 1996, respectively.
