Boston Bruins head coach Marco Sturm has nothing but positive things to say about star forward David Pastrnak.

The Bruins suffered a 4-3 overtime loss to the New Jersey Devils on Monday, in a game in which Pastrnak scored twice. It was a stellar game from Pastrnak, and Sturm said he was the best player on the ice and a key reason why Boston got a point.

“This guy, he gave us everything he had,” Sturm said on Monday as seen on NESN’s postgame coverage. “Not just because he scored two goals, he was the driver. He was good on the bench; he was always pushing guys. For me, he was by far the best player on the ice today.”

Pastrnak tied the game in the third period, as he dangled his way to a highlight-reel goal. Bruins forward Pavel Zacha was also impressed with Pastrnak’s game and play on Monday.

“It is a lot of fun watching him,” Zacha said. “He’s been working really hard today, winning a lot of battles. And when he had the puck, there was something always going on. He basically gave us the one point at least and the chance to win the game.”

Pastrnak now has 26 goals and 55 assists for 81 points in 62 games this season.

Boston will return to the ice on Tuesday on the road against the Montreal Canadiens.
