Marvin Harrison has nightmare first half, finds redemption vs. Seahawks

The Arizona Cardinals suffered a last-second 23-20 loss to the Seattle Seahawks Thursday night after rallying back from 14 points down to tie the game. It was a disappointing end, but perhaps the biggest story of the game was with receiver Marvin Harrison Jr.

Already off to a disappointing start to the season, the first half was the worst game in his young career, while the fourth quarter became perhaps the most impactful one he has had to date.

Marvin Harrison's awful first half

Kyler Murray's two interceptions were basically Harrison's fault.

In the first quarter with the fluky interception turned fumble that the Cardinals got back, Harrison just stopped his route, and Murray threw the ball where Harrison could have been, but he wasn't, so it looked like Murray threw it right at Coby Bryant.

Fortunately, that pick didn't hurt the Cardinals because Bryant fumbled the ball on the play, and the Cardinals recovered.

There was a throw where Murray threw the ball expecting Harrison to go toward the sideline, but Harrison didn't go that direction. It was yet another case of Harrison not being on the same page as Murray, something we have seen a lot since his rookie season.

The low point was in the second quarter, on third-and-15, and Murray rifled a ball on a slant to Harrison near the sticks. Harrison, instead of securing the ball and then pushing for the first down, took his eyes off the ball, bobbled it and Seahawks linebacker Ernest Jones snatched it out of the air for an interception. It cost the Cardinals potentially at least three points.

His play and his confidence were the talk of the broadcast. But then things changed.

Second-half redemption for Harrison

Harrison was huge in the fourth quarter. He high-pointed a ball in the end zone over Seahawks cornerback Devon Witherspoon for a 16-yard touchdown.

After the score, it was an exhale moment. He knelt down in the end zone, and looked visibly relieved, like he took a weight off his shoulders.

He added more.

On third-and-five in their final drive, Harrison hauled in an 18-yard pass to give them a first-and-goal. Two plays later, Murray threw the game-tying touchdown pass to Emari Demercado.

Was this the point where Harrison turns things around and dominates?

That is what we have to see in the weeks to come.

For tonight, he went from bum to stud.
