Micah Parsons on first career Packers sack: 'I really had to hunt'
Like a lion chasing a gazelle, Green Bay Packers edge rusher Micah Parsons had to keep hunting before he finally chased down Jared Goff for a memorable first career sack as a Packer.
"I really had to hunt," Parsons said of the sack after Sunday's 27-13 win. "I kept telling myself, keeping hunting, keep hunting, keep hunting. It's the process. It's the long game."
The end result of the hunt was an epic prize.
Parsons worked with Devonte Wyatt on a stunt, beat the left guard with power and then appeared to be fired out of a cannon as he accelerated toward the scrambling quarterback. With Goff in his sights, Parsons turned on the jets and eventually tracked down Goff behind the line with a diving tackle. The crowd erupted; the Packers sideline burst into celebration. And Parsons stood tall, taking in the moment while holding up one finger, for his first sack in the No. 1 green-and-gold uniform.

Parsons thought he might have hit 21 miles per hour while chasing down Goff. Next Gen Stats had him clocked at 18.47 miles per hour. No matter the speed, Parsons looked fast. He said he's still building back his full skill set after not playing football for roughly six months.
"I didn't even get to burst out yet," Parsons said. "I'm going to keep getting better."
Parsons didn't practice during training camp while navigating a back injury and a contract dispute. He was traded to Green Bay last Friday, practiced four times with the Packers before Week 1 and ended up playing 30 snaps in a situational role against the Lions.
More hunting is ahead. Parsons was already getting treatment post-game Sunday to get his body ready to chase around Jayden Daniels on Thursday night at Lambeau Field.
Parsons said he didn't need an injection to play Sunday and is expecting to be "full go" by the end of the month. Coincidentally, the Packers go to Dallas to play the Cowboys to end September.
Former Cowboys teammate Trevon Diggs couldn't believe what he was seeing on Parsons' first career sack with the Packers.
"This can't be real," Diggs tweeted on the highlight Sunday.
This can’t be real. Wake me up from the dream https://t.co/uazd4SuMj4— TRE SE7EN (@TrevonDiggs) September 7, 2025
It was real, and it was unforgettable. After being introduced last to a roar at Lambeau Field, Parsons produced the signature play of a signature win just 10 days after being traded to his new home in Green Bay.
