Michigan State hockey stars talk big Duel in the D win over Michigan
After losing on Friday night, Michigan State hockey bounced back on Saturday in a massive way, defeating Michigan to win the Duel in the D and taking back the Iron D Trophy to East Lansing.
Michigan State needed to find themselves on the winning side, closing out a hockey game, and they did just that to win a big time game.
After the game, MSU stars Porter Martone, Trey Augustine spoke to the media, here is what they said:
- Martone on the jump to college hockey: “It’s a lot faster and harder. The biggest thing for me is focusing on being a power forward and pushing myself to be better.”
- Martone on the state of the team: “It’s great to win trophies but we haven’t peaked yet.”
- Augustine responding to how this series fuels the rest of the season: “That is the standard that we need to be at. Playing teams like that only makes us better and prepares us for the tournament.”
- Martone on if this was a must win game: “They are all Must Win games!”
- Martone on his relationship with Jack Ivankovic: “ He’s a great friend of mine and I live with him when I’m in Toronto. We were teammates for two years.”
Michigan State gets a week off before hosting Notre Dame in East Lansing in two weeks.
