Watauga is seeking to cap off a perfect season, while Middle Creek aims to take another top seed down.
In the North Carolina High School Athletic Association’s Class 6A championship game, Watauga’s Pioneers take on the Mustangs from Middle Creek. The game takes place Friday afternoon at Kenan Stadium on the University of North Carolina campus in Chapel Hill.

Watauga comes in with a record of 14-0. The Pioneers, who hail from Boone, have compiled 628 points this season, averaging 44.9 points per game.
They needed one extra point to make it this far, as last week, Watauga outlasted Northern Guilford, 43-42, in the semifinal round.
In their semifinal last week, the Mustangs knocked off a top-seeded squad in Jacksonville, 31-21. They come in at 11-2 overall and have a solid offense as well, averaging 36.8 points per contest.
