Mike Tomlin offers injury update on 3 Steelers defenders after win over Jets

On Sunday, the Pittsburgh Steelerswon a shootout with the New York Jets on the strength of their offense. The defense struggled all game long and it was only made worse by multiple injuries on the defensive side of the football. After the game, head coach Mike Tomlin offered an update on each of the three injured Steelers.

According to Tomlin, cornerback Joey Porter Jr. was dealing with some tightness in his hamstring so the team chose to shut him down. This moved Jalen Ramsey to the outside for the remainder of the game, where he made the pass breakup that sealed the win.

Tomlin also reported on a pair of knee injuries, one to safety DeShon Elliott and one to linebacker Malik Harrison. According to Tomlin, he had no specific status for either guy and they are currently being evaluated. Harrison was working in a rotation at linebacker but Elliott is the team's starting strong safety. When he went down, veteran Chuck Clark came in and played well.

Next up is the Steelers home opener on Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks.
