Nebraska coach Fred Hoiberg named Coach of the Year semifinalist
Nebraska basketball coach Fred Hoiberg has been named a semifinalist for the Naismith Coach of the Year Award. He is one of ten coaches who made the semifinals.
Hoiberg is in the midst of the most successful season in Nebraska basketball history. The Huskers have set the school record for wins (27) and won its first NCAA Tournament game after defeating Troy 76-47 on Thursday.
Hoiberg also set single-season school records for conference wins (15) and conference road wins (seven). He was also named the Big Ten Coach of the Year by the conference's coaches.
The Nebraska head coach also signed a contract extension earlier this month. Starting April 1, 2026, Hoiberg will earn a base salary of $5,000,000 and receive a $100,000 annual increase through the contract's end date.
Nebraska will play Vanderbilt in the second round of the NCAA Tournament on Saturday at 7:45 p.m. CT. The game can be seen on TNT.
