Nebraska drops third straight game in 78-60 collapse against Maryland
Nebraska (16-8, 5-8) returned to Lincoln to face its third straight top 25 opponent, No. 22 Maryland (19-6, 7-6). The struggles against ranked foes continued for the Huskers, with the Terrapins knocking them down 78-60.
Things quickly faltered for Nebraska in the second quarter, after Maryland hit an 8-0 run to extend its lead to 10. The Terrapins scored 30 points in the quarter and entered the locker room up 45-28. Maryland's lead grew to 30 in the third and never shrank below 16.
The Huskers' defense couldn't slow down the Terrapins, who shot 31-of-62 from the floor, 8-of-24 from three-point range and 8-of-11 from the free throw line. Nebraska finished 22-of-56, 9-of-25 and 7-of-9, respectively. Maryland also scored 44 points in the paint, outrebounded the Huskers 39-26 and racked up 23 points off 22 turnovers.
The Terrapins finished with four players scoring double-digit points. Isimenme Ozzy-Momodu even scored 16 points on 7-of-8 shooting. Nebraska saw one player reach double digits.
Logan Nissley was the bright spot for the Huskers, scoring a career-high 22 points on a career-high six three-pointers. She hit 8-of-16 from the floor and 6-of-12 from beyond the arc. Nissley surpassed previous career-highs by four points and one three-pointer.
Nebraska jumps back on the road for its next game, traveling north to take on Minnesota Thursday night. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. CT on the Big Ten Network.
