NFL lifts suspension on former Steelers defensive tackle
After a lengthy 10-week ban, the NFL has lifted the suspension on former Pittsburgh Steelers defensive tackle Isaiah Buggs.
On Tuesday, multiple reports indicated Buggs, who’s currently a free agent, is now cleared to play wherever his next opportunity in the league takes him. Buggs quickly took to social media to celebrate the news.
"I know my journey is special, and I know God has a plan for me," Buggs wrote via X. "I’ve been silently working through this suspension and continue to train and work hard. I’m in the best shape of my life, and I’m ready to plug and play."
I Know My Journey Is Special And I Know God Has A Plan For Me I’ve Been Silently Working Through This Suspension And Continue To Train And Work Hard‼️ I’m In The Best Shape Of My Life And I’m Ready To Plug And Play🙏🏾— Isaiah D. Buggs (@BigPooh_91) November 11, 2025
Following several incidents of legal trouble — including charges in May 2024 for second-degree animal cruelty, which were later dismissed, and domestic violence/burglary charges in June 2024 — Buggs was suspended for the first 10 weeks of the season.
Selected by the Steelers with the 192nd overall pick in the sixth round of the 2019 NFL Draft, Buggs played two seasons in Pittsburgh before his release in January 2022. He played in 27 games for the Detroit Lions from 2022–2023, starting in 16 of those contests.
Buggs hasn’t played in an NFL regular-season game since his time in Detroit but did win a Super Bowl as a part of the Kansas City Chiefs’ practice squad in 2024. It remains to be seen which team will give Buggs his next opportunity, but given his experience, he would be a solid depth piece for any defense.
