No. 3 TCU survives frantic upset bid from No. 6 Washington, advances to Sweet 16 with OT win
TCU entered Sunday night having won 43 consecutive home games.
Make it 44 after a major sweat with the Sweet 16 on the line. No. 6 seed Washington flummoxed No. 3 seed TCU for much of the game and held a 47-40 lead with 6:19 remaining in the fourth quarter.
But TCU rode a 7-0 run to tie the game and ultimately forced overtime, where it secured a frantic 62-59 win to advance to the Sweet 16.
After the Horned Frogs rallied to tie the game, Clara Silva hit a layup for a 51-49 lead with 1:39 left in regulation, TCU’s first since the second quarter. Washington then tied it on the other end, and Olivia Miles missed a would-be game-winner from 3.

Miles miss sent the game overtime, tied at 51. TCU immediately took control and a 58-51 lead.

But it wasn’t over then. The game maintained a frantic pace, and Washington cut TCU’s lead to 62-59 with 42 seconds remaining. After a stop, Washington got the ball back, trailing by 3 with 12.2 seconds remaining.
Sayvia Sellers got a good luck at a game-tying 3. But it clanged off the back of the rim, securing victory for TCU.
