Inter Miami will have a week off until their next MLS game, which is on July 26 at Chase Stadium. They come off with another win in the league after defeating the NY Red Bulls 5-1 away from home.

The Herons are still in the battle for the top positions in the Eastern Conference and the Supporters Shield table. A huge boost for them is the club's planning to sign Atletico Madrid midfielder Rodrigo De Paul.

According to Gaston Edul, Rodrigo De Paul is joining Inter Miami and is set to sign a four-year contract.

With no announcement made by the club, Inter Miami head coach Javier Mascherano gave his opinion on the potential arrival of the Argentine midfielder.

Mascherano on Rodrigo De Paul

Ahead of the game against the NY Red Bulls, Mascherano was asked about Rodrigo De Paul and if the player would join the club soon. The head coach hinted at a potential arrival from the midfielder.

He also made sure not to excite fans as the deal, according to him, it not officially sealed. De Paul is rumored to soon seal the move to Inter Miami.

Javier Mascherano: "He is a world-class player and [a] world champion. If there’s a possibility of him joining, he’ll be more than welcome, because he will surely be a huge help to the team. Obviously, it would improve the team, but there’s nothing official."

De Paul is rumored to arrive in time for Inter Miami's first game in the Leagues Cup, which is on July 30 against Atlas FC.

Inter Miami's upcoming games

If Rodrigo De Paul is set to join Inter Miami in time for the Leagues Cup, the midfielder will play three Leagues Cup games against three Mexican teams.

The first game is against Atlas on July 30. On August 2, Inter Miami will take on Club Necaxa, and on August 6, the Herons take on Pumas UNAM.

Depending on their performances in the three games of the Leagues Cup, Inter Miami can qualify for the knockout stages, which include a quarterfinal, a semifinal, and a final.

In the MLS, Inter Miami is fifth in the Eastern Conference with 41 points. The Herons are seven points behind first-place FC Cincinnati. De Paul's arrival not only adds quality to Inter Miami but also depth ahead of a long league schedule.
