Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman explains how to go about earning a starting spot

For any player, the spring is when you try and separate yourself to take over a starting position, but Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman sees the process very differently.

The Irish boss explained to the media that his players shouldn’t make that their focus, but instead “on being the best version of you.” This is much different than how many coaches across the country would speak on the matter, which is why Freeman is universally loved by his players.

Personally, I think that this is a great message to players, as their focus should be on improving themselves, and not worrying about what others are doing. If you are able to strive to be the best you, then everything else will fall into place. Surely, the coaching staff would notice your effort, and give out merit based rewards.

The Notre Dame program continues to impress, and a good part of that is due to the leadership of Freeman.
