The Notre Dame Leprechaun is one of the most identifiable and original mascots in the country. In 2023 the Mascot Hall of Fame recognized the Leprechaun as the best human mascot in existence (in your face West Virginia Mountaineer). Notre Dame takes this mascot business very seriously (like probably too seriously if you’ve had to hire a lawyer because you dressed up like one for Halloween).

Anyways…

Mascots are awesome, and they are a nice slice of the reason of what makes college sports great. Notre Dame’s Leprechaun is obviously part of that, but did you know there are multiple Leprechauns every year?

Of course you did.

So now Notre Dame is prepping to replace its small Leprechaun army for the 2026-2027 sports seasons. Students try out and create their own Leprechaun outfits (shillelagh and all) and go through an entire progress before a decision is made this spring. They just released the list of finalists which is made up of nine students, and they were posted in a recent Instagram post. Four of these students will earn the right to be a Leprechaun next season.

Which four would you vote for as the next Notre Dame Leprechaun?
