Notre Dame Lacrosse earns No. 2 seed in NCAA Tournament

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish had a disappointing weekend. Notre Dame was ranked No 1. in the nation and the top seed in the ACC Tournament — but that came to a crashing halt with a 15-10 loss to the Virginia Cavaliers. The Hoos went on to win the ACC Tournament, which didn’t really hurt Notre Dame.

So here comes the NCAA Tournament and the selections show on Sunday night… Notre Dame earned the No. 2 seed with the No. 1 seed now going to the Princeton Tigers.

From the NCAA:

The remainder of the field was selected at large: Cornell, Duke, Johns Hopkins, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Syracuse, Virginia and Yale.

The opening round games will be held on May 6. That will be followed by the eight first round contests the weekend of May 9-10 on the campuses of the participating institutions.

All Division I first round games will be televised on ESPNU. The quarterfinal games will be hosted by Hofstra and Delaware, and those contests will also air on ESPNU. The Division I semifinal and championship games, along the Division II and III championship games, will be held at Scott Stadium in Charlottesville, Virginia, with the University of Virginia serving as host for the event. The Division I semifinals will be televised on ESPN2 on Saturday, May 23, and the championship game will be Monday, May 25 on ESPN.
